Having been published by travel publishers Bradt in 2014 (see below), I entered their Roam Alone competition in autumn 2016, which challenged writers to describe their experiences of reluctant solo travel. I visited Jordan alone several years ago and despite having been very tense and anxious to begin with, I ended up having a fantastic time. It’s a trip I’ll never forget so I was so happy when Bradt chose me as one of the winners. My story will be published in April when the anthology comes out.

In my early 20s, I travelled alone across India, Nepal and China. While in Delhi, I wrote a short story, which ended up being selected for the final of the Bradt and Independent on Sunday Travel Writing Competition 2012. The piece was later included in an anthology published in 2014 entitled, The Irresponsible Traveller: Tales of Scrapes and Narrow Escapes, alongside stories by Michael Palin, TV presenter Ben Fogle, and travel journalist Simon Calder.
